Week ahead: G20 summit, US jobs report in focus

All eyes over the coming week will likely be on the result of Saturday's meeting between the Presidents of China and the US on the sidelines of the G20 leaders' summit in Osaka, Japan, and what agreements - if any - were reached.

To take note of, trading volumes are likely to be lighter than they otherwise might have been due to the 4 July holiday in the States.

The NYSE will be closed for business on that day and the previous session will be a shortened one.

At the end of the week nevertheless, investors will be watching out for the June non-farm payrolls report in the US, with the consensus anticipating a rebound in hiring from May's depressed level of only 75,000 to 158,000.

First thing on Monday morning, investors will also be digesting the results of monthly manufacturing sector surveys in China, the UK and Japan.

In Britain, consumer credit and mortgage lending figures for May will also be published.

Rate-setters in Australia and Sweden are due to meet to decide on monetary policy on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.

To take note of, the outcome of Saturday's meeting between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping may factor into the thinking underlying the speeches of various Fed speakers scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, starting with Fed Vice President, Richard Clarida, on Monday.
