At 1330 GMT, the Department of Labor is expected to announce that the year-on-year rate of increase in consumer prices slipped from 3.7% for September to 3.3% in October.

Consensus is however that core CPI will be unchanged at 4.1%.

Against that backdrop, earlier, at 0700 GMT, the Office for National Statistics would publish the September employment report.

The rate of increase in average weekly earnings is seen slowing, from 8.1% over the three months to August to 7.4%.

Investors will also be keeping tabs on multiple Fed speakers scheduled for throughout the afternoon.

External Monetary Policy Committee member, Swati Dhingra, will also take to the podium, at noon.

She will be followed at 1330 GMT by Bank of England chief economist Huw Pill.

On the corporate side of things, Vodafone is scheduled to post its interim results.

Analysts are anticipating revenues of €21.6bn, together with a 5% drop in organic revenues to €18.4bn, led by a drop in revenues from its Spanish operations, said Michael Hewson, chief market analyst at CMC Markets UK.

Organic growth in the UK on the other hand is pegged at 5.78% to $2.8bn.

Its new chief executive officer, Margherita Della Valle, had recently inked a deal to hive off its Spanish unit to Zegona for €5bn, whilst focusing more on the UK and Germany.

Last summer the shares plumbed a 25-year low below 70p, but had since started a slow recovery as the new CEO tried to turn the business around.
